    flash drive or card reader working in xp but not in windows 7 help


    flash drive or any card reader is perfectly working in windowx xp but when i insert in my windows 7 it show drive is not formated .

    then I formated on windows 7 it works but when i restart windows 7 it again show flash drive is not formmated .
    every time i restart windows 7 it does not open flash drive or any card reader and show drive is not formated . at the same time when i boot in windows xp they all work perfectly in windows xp . what to do within windows 7 to solve this problem

    Hello saif, welcome to Sevenforums

    Could it be that both those devices (though I doubt it with the thumb drive) were made specifically for XP and there is a compatability issue?

    Allow me to look some things up for you. please Fill out your specs - this tool may help you with that.

    Also, type "devices and printers" into the start search and click the first program at the top. Then type "device manager" into the start search and click the first program at the top. In both of those windows, please let me know if you see any exclaimation marks near any of the devices.

    So wait when you format it in Windows 7 and restart and it doesn't show up, does it work on XP? Also, how old is said flash drive?

    Run System File Checker to repair any corrupted files. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker[2]=Performance

    no there is no exclamation mark in device manager .


    i multiple flash drives they all show same format it but at the same time when i checked them in windows xp they get opened perfectly .
