Need to update bios via CD, need help making DISC.

I would like to upgrade to Rev F12i on my board, but for some reason I can not upgrade via USB like I did the other bios.

How would I go about making a bios upgrade disc?

Hi.

The best and safest bios flash\update especially for gigabyte motherboard is the qflash usb method.

Did you followed these steps?

Plug in usb, format usb, extract bios in usb, restart, run qflash.

Be very careful with GA motherboard bios flash\update,gigabyte motherboard are the most "faddy" with bios update,a simple wrong step causes problems.

I would stay with F11 BIOS update, as the F12i is the old Beta BIOS, latest Beta is F12Q.

Ended up doing the upgrade to F12Q via USB DOS Boot.

I wanted the "Improved audio efficiency" What ever that means.

All seems well!

Of course! However Gigabyte boards are pretty pretty much impossible to brick due to the dual bios. : )

I'm not sure why or who is giving out this information, but Gigabyte boards can be flashed in Windows just fine. I've been using them for a decade, and always flash using the Windows utility.

If you've actually done so before, you'll notice the actual flashing isn't done in Windows. It preps the files, checks the new BIOS file for compatibility, and then reboots.

If you choose to try Qflash, that way will work as well. That's why these manufacturer's offer several ways to update. Some, like Dell, only offer Windows flash utils.
