I'm not sure why or who is giving out this information, but Gigabyte boards can be flashed in Windows just fine. I've been using them for a decade, and always flash using the Windows utility.
If you've actually done so before, you'll notice the actual flashing isn't done in Windows. It preps the files, checks the new BIOS file for compatibility, and then reboots.
If you choose to try Qflash, that way will work as well. That's why these manufacturer's offer several ways to update. Some, like Dell, only offer Windows flash utils.
