Ah, so I already had the Integration Tools installed & enabled, but that did lead me to figuring out that under "USB," I had to "attach" the printer to the virtual machine. The Lexmark setup finally sees that it's connected & it's installed! YES!

So, is this the only way to install a 16-bit program (the All-in-One Center software) on a 64-bit Win 7?
Also, is there any other way I could get at least the driver installed on the 64-bit?

More like I think the problem with my latter question is finding the specific .inf needle file I need (or something else, if that's mistaken) in this haystack of a cd...

To the best of my knowledge you must run a virtualization application such as Virtual PC and create a virtual machine. Install your choice of legacy OS XP in that VM.

But you are already doing that with XPmode.

The support is just not there for 16 bit applications in any 64-bit version of Windows.

Okay. I thought maybe that had something to do with the "run in compatibility mode for..." settings. I'd never come across a problem that actually solved. Alright.

But does that mean the driver also is 16bit, or something else that would keep that from being usable?

Could you show a screenshot of that file that had the 16 on the end of it?

There's a few that have 16 appended, but then quite a few have 32. Here are screencaps of all the folders & files I figured relevant.
I recall needing an .inf file for the driver-- if possible, how could I try using these?

This may or may not work: Running old 16 bit on a 64 bit computer Read the whole thread, not just that post.

Then there is this: 64-bit versions of Windows do not support 16-bit components, 16-bit processes, or 16-bit applications, but you would have to dual boot with a 32bit OS. Still have the old XP Disk?

I hesitate to even suggest this:

I would strongly suggest that you have backups to any of your valuable data, and possibly an image or clone of your complete system before doing this!

Read all the notes there, and keep notes for yourself on what you are doing!

VB runtime libraries marked as being for Windows 3.x are also suitable for Windows 95/98/ME/XP (needed for some 16-bit programs).
Windows ME/XP/Vista/Win7 users need only download the first three Win 3.1 files (VBRun 100, 200 & 300 files) to maintain compatibility with some older (16-bit) programs.

Thanks, I'll... play around on that adventure when I'm not pressed for time & my only tool for doing schoolwork -due tonight- is the life giving thing I call my computer.

Lol, seriously, thanks though. I'll look into it sometime when I can. ^u^
Til then, thank you so much for helping get it to a functional state!
