This reliable EPS adapter combines a P4 power supply connection with an LP4 power supply connection, into a single 8-pin EPS motherboard connector, allowing you to use a non-EPS power supply with a motherboard that requires an EPS power connection."

    My mistake, sorry.

I've had a close look at the image, and the ATX12V plug supplies one half, whereas the molex plug supplies the other half.

Hey, thats OK, I've used that smilly a couple of times my self.

Thats what I've been trying to point out. I'm an Electronic Engineering Technologist by trade and have worked as an Electronic Technician since 1980. Part of my duties were the repair and maintenance of computers. Sometimes that can get me into trouble when I won't let things go that I think are wrong. To honest it is hard to be 100% certain just going by that picture and description. I had to look closely at it a couple of times to be sure in my head how I thought it would be connected. I've used similar cables and I know what voltages are on what pins so that makes it a little easier for me. Regardless of what I say though, its still up to the OP to read the instructions (one hopes there are some) and judge accordingly. It probably would work with only one plug used but those wires may overheat due to excess current. As you correctly pointed out though, it probably advisable to only use this as a temporary fix and get a better power supply with the correct cable on it.

Good choice. I have 2 Corsair HX models and am very happy with both. Neither has shown any sign of trouble.
