    Good NAS Storage Server

    Hi,

I'm looking for a 2 TB at least to 4TB NAS but I don't know which one choose, which brand works better, etc. My budget is from $200 dlls to $400 dlls. I'm posting this thread because I need help choosing it so please help me. I'm looking for one that has HDD protection (RAID1, etc). I like iomega, seagate, western digital, hp, etc. whatever brand it's ok but I need them to work with Win 7 and Win XP.

    Please help me

If I was picking something for myself, I would go with Synology DS211J Diskless System DiskStation 2-bay NAS Server, for $210. Keep in mind this is diskless. Check out the specs - excellent. Supports RAID. And then purchase your sata drives.

    Carlos15,
I'm a nut for hard drives and back up's. I've been eyeing a Drobo but just can't wrap my head around the cost and current costs of HDD's. I don't think you are going to find a good NAS with 2-4TB drives installed for the monies you're speaking of. Just the NAS drive bay and I would say yes you're just in the low end of the ballpark. Add $100-$200 and things get much more interesting. If this is something you can hold off on when the cost of 2 and 3 TB drives comes back to it's pre-flood prices then you are just at the low end of the drive enclosure market.

I found a D-Link DNS-343 NAS and it looks pretty well. I found one site and this was in the 5 best NAS, I was pretty surprised, they tested it and they said the cooling fans are a little bit noisy but I don't care, when they tested it said it writed a 10GB folder in 8 mins and 10 secs and it read it 6 mins and 16 secs so I think this is a pretty good NAS. (That one i found it's just the enclosure, I can choose it with a 2TB or 4TB HDD but it's more expensive so I will buy only the enclosure and the HDD'S from another brand at another moment) but I won't take that decision without your opinion so please post your opinion and like always thanks for your preference.

Please help me guys with your opinion and help

Looks good. This is diskless, as you know. If you're going to mirror with at least 2 TB (you indicated above), you're looking at $650 or more.

The LG's are also getting strong reviews, I personally own two WD My Book Studio II's and they are top flight but not currently configured for NAS.
