OMG THANK YOU! You have NO idea how many days I have wasted trying to find a solution to this. My WD drive, BRAND NEW, and it kept asking me to format, I click yes, then it says Windows can't format it. Other sites said to do chkdsk...but when I do, it says it can't check it because it's RAW. I've tried other recommended solutions, and THIS finally did it! I want to go back to all the flippin sites I checked to pass on this info! THANK YOU THANK YOU. I only wish I had found this sooner! lol
I will assume you do not want any of the data that might be on the drive.
In the lower section of the
Disk Management window there are 3 'boxes' next to Disk 2.
Right click on that middle (hatched) box and click "delete Volume".
Then Right click on the first box (System Partition) and click "delete Volume".
There should now be just unallocated space for the whole drive (black box). Right click on that and choose "Format".
Let us know if that will work.
