Crystal Disk is more accurate of the two test benchmarks.

Thanks. Well my OCZ Vertex 4 (256gig) arrived today. Installed it, used Paragon Migrate OS to SSD to move OS & contents from old Vertex 2 to new Vertex 4.
Here's the down and dirty quick test....
Vertex 4...
Vertex 2...
Even though my MB has two Marvel SATA 6GB controllers I've not used them, nor do I intend to.
Anyway that's my quick down and dirty benchmark. BTW I'm using my old Vertex 2 as an add on drive for photo editing purposes.

Sorry I didn't realise you was referring to me.
I was told to use the Intel ICH10R SATA 3.0gB/s connection as the SATA 6Gb/s has a Marvel controller.
I switched it back though as I was having problems with my game freezing.
I installed windows in ACHI mode, so I don't know why it's showing it as IDE
Any ideas why?
I bought this Mo/Bo because it had SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0, should I sue ASUS for falsely advertising their products? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64- bit CPU Intel Core i7-3770K @3.50ghz Motherboard EVGA Z77 FTW Memory Kingston Technology 16GB (2x 8GB) 2133MHz DDR3 Non-ECC Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 4gb Sound Card Nil Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 22" Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 60hz Keyboard HP Wireless Keyboard Mouse Corsair Vengeance M90 PSU Enermax Platinax EPM1000EWT Special OC Edition Case Cooler Master HAF Full Tower nVIDIA Edition Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128GB

It is a seperate setting from the Intel controller AHCI. I had to set it seperately on my Asus. Downloaded your manual and found it for you.
Go into Bios find Advanced tab. Yours will show IDE as in the SNIP below.
Highlight Marvell controller as I circled in yellow. Press ENTER.
Select AHCI press ENTER.
Exit and Save new Bios settings.
Of course change Boot order when you switch the SSD over to the Marvell controller.

Look in your moboard manual how to set it. Hi I set my BIOS to ACHI when I installed window 7, but, I just remembered that I cleared the CMOS since, I expect that it defaults to IDE, I have put it back to ACHI, is there a way to check that it has not affected my computer, as I don't fancy re-installing Windows again? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64- bit CPU Intel Core i7-3770K @3.50ghz Motherboard EVGA Z77 FTW Memory Kingston Technology 16GB (2x 8GB) 2133MHz DDR3 Non-ECC Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 4gb Sound Card Nil Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 22" Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 60hz Keyboard HP Wireless Keyboard Mouse Corsair Vengeance M90 PSU Enermax Platinax EPM1000EWT Special OC Edition Case Cooler Master HAF Full Tower nVIDIA Edition Cooling CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128GB

You set the Marvell controller seperately from the Intel?
Setting the Intel will not set the Marvell. You showed IDE mode with the Marvell controller with AS SSD.
Neither of the bios settings will change Windows AHCI setting. That is in Windows 7 itself.
Clearing CMOS probably defaulted the Marvell back to IDE. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hopalong/ Godzilla OS Windows7 Pro 64bit SP-1; Windows XP Pro 32bit CPU Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Motherboard ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Memory 8GB@1400MHz Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 4x2GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 Sound Card VIA Onboard Monitor(s) Displays Asus VS248H-P 24"; Samsung SyncMaster 941BW 19"ws Screen Resolution 1920x1080; 1440x900 Keyboard Logitech K-320 Mouse Kensington PSU COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RS850-AMBAJ3-US 850W Modular Case COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Cooling Scythe "Mugen-2 Rev.B" (2 ScytheKaze-Jyuni PWM fans) Hard Drives Samsung 830 120GB SSD
