Ghost that comes with the Samsung SSD may work just fine on the Samsung.

I know it the past it was flaky but that was before SSD's. I don't know if they ever fixed it.
I would hope that they have.
I used the Paragon when I did my Samsung so don't know.

Ghost provided with your Samsung might be worth a try and it is free.

    Just a thought.

Forgive the dumb question Mike but is that the feature on the CD that came with the drive?

My latest Ivy B now fully operational and seems to be getting quicker.

    John
That is not a dumb question.
Yes I beleive it comes on the CD.
I downloaded the SSD Magician from the web site to get the newest version so did not even try the CD.

You can get the newest version of Samsungs Ghost from the Samsung site. Might be the exact same one as on the CD.
    Thanks Mike:)

Regarding the Samsung provided Norton Ghost program, it actually only provides a link to the Norton download and when I down loaded it it asked for a product key and or a free 30 day trial. As no code was provided I hit the 30 day trial and then tried to open the SSD clone portion but it's only available with a full purchased version so it was un-installed immediately.

Use free Macrium. That is always a safe bet.

    whs and Hopalong X,
Thanks so much for the info. I'm nervous about the proper next step as I don't want to image myself into another fresh install. But I'm tempted to re-image my current Samsung 830 to my Vertex III, install the Vertex as the C drive and use the Samsung tool to install it back to a completely wiped Samsung drive. As my system is still crazy fast at the moment I'm still gathering all my ducks and then I'll get them in a row, also going to call back to Samsung and get thier input and then likely over the next week take the plunge.....but as I said If I wind up screwing things up or having to do another clean install with all my software......I'll scream bloody murder !

I am not 100% sure what you are trynig to do. If you want to move the OS from the Samsung to the Vertex, then you have to first image the Samsung to a HDD (internal or external) and then restore the image to the Vertex. Imaging directly to the Vertex will not give you a bootable SSD/OS.
