99% but 'good' on a brand new SSD in CrystalDiskInfo

Should I be concerned is the simple question I have?

I only installed the drive yesterday. A week ago I used DiskGenius to 'migrate' the existing OS (which was on an EVO 120GB SSD but was almost full, onto this brand New EVO 870 (from eBuyer) but never installed it because I realised I had a lot of updates to install in my system, which I did over a few days and then made a new 'perfect' Acronis image. Once I'd done this, I installed he new SSD and as soon as I entered Windows I I restored the system with that new Acronis image. So really the OS had been written on this SSD twice, yet it is showing 99% but still good. Have I a problem with this drive?

Thanks for any responses in advance.

224gb written. What is the rated endurance for that disk? 150tb apparently.

The crucial I am using goes down 1% for every 3.2 tb written.

maybe somebody else has a small 870 evo and can advise

Hello, yes, it's 150TB written or 5 years.

I know that 99% (or a 1% drop) is nothing to be sneezed at - but I would have expected a brand new drive with hardly anything written on it, after 1 day would stay at 100% for at least a while.

I only wish I had tested my old 120 GB EVO with this same software before changing it, as that been in the system for years.

Nearly two years ago (August 2022) I bought an 870 EVO 1TB direct from Samsung. I checked with CrystalDisk Info at my very first power up (in an external usb case, before even fitting it into the laptop). Mine was its second power up, its first was (presumably) a factory test. I have just checked it again today, seems to have lasted well after 12TB written (specified TBW 600TB).

Thank you everyone for replying. I am not happy at all that it is on 99% after only writing some 682gb of data onto it. I thought it should have stayed on at least 100% for a couple of months at least. I know 99% is really good and I know it has a long warranty, bu I think I might get in touch with eBuyer and let them know I've had this reading - just to see hat they say. I won;t mark this as solved just yet, just in case there is a further development.

I don't know what you are complaining about. All four of my Samsung 870 EVO drives are showing 99%. Three have about 880 GB written. You forget that your drive is 250 GB compared to my 1TB drives. Proportionally your 682gb is equal to 2728GB written on my drives. Also note that one of my drives has over 11,000 GB written to it and is still at 99%.

The following is the results of all my SSDs. Five of the drives are below 99% but notice how much data is written to them.

Hi MisterEd. Agreed. I wasn't going to close this post until tomorrow as I was waiting on a reply from Samsung. I know 99% is nothing, especialky since it is the O/S drive as I have two large platter drives as storage, but the fact that it was on 99% having only written 224gb at the time of installation made me concerned.

However, you are right, Samsung have told me as much and pretty close to your comment in terms of figures, impressive and trustworthy advice, thank you.

Anyway, I am now happy and will mark this as solved

Again, thanks to all who responded.
