I'm thinking of RMAing my Crucial M4 128GB. Another person on the Crucial forum had the same problem with very low 4K-64 speeds and nothing they did could fix it. What do you think?
Michael. I would say that RMA is not necessary as long as you are still happy with the performance. I think the R/W speed does very little to the OS performance. My SSDs vary widely in R/W speeds, but they all perform as expected - which is fast. The access time is always +/- 0.1ms - and that is what counts.

Have a look at the boot speed of Windows 8 in my Virtual Box - and that is from my 64GB M4. Start Win8 in vBox1.wmv - YouTube

Thanks for your advice Wolfgang. I've got some more pressing personal business to sort out so I'll probably sit on it for a while. (A reason for lack of forum activity!).

Understand. Personal matters should always take priority.

Yes, I bought it from NewEgg paid $399.00 at the time. I run it as C:\ Windows and drivers only on it.

p.s.- I'd considered getting the Corsair Force Series™ GT 240GB SATA 3 6Gb/s Solid-State Hard Drive, but I read that the Marvel controller on the Corsair Performance Series™ Pro 256GB SSD was better.

It is good that you changed it to AHCI. But in practice you will probably not notice a difference for the OS because the 4K nums and the acccess times did not really change. And those are the ones that count.
