    SATA 3.0Gb/s
Why not stick it on one of the 6Gb ports (the grey ones)
    SATA 6.0Gb/s
According to your MB specs, the 6Gb port has a Marvell controller, I had the same problem with my Asus MB, I was getting less than I should on the 6Gb Marvel ports but soon as I moved it to my Intel 6Gb ports the reading went up to what they should be. Unfortunately you don't have that option.

    Just got a Samsung 830 128gb

    My laptop only has Sata2.

I'm new to SSD so can any one tell me if these numbers are all right?
The Crystal Disk looks very good for Sata 3.0Gb/s.

Crystal Disk is more accurate of the two test benchmarks.

    Enjoy!

AS SSD is showing "pciide" as the controller....that could be a problem.

Well positive or not i'll have one Friday :)

Will post my thoughts sometime next week, if not this weekend.

    Thanks.
Well my OCZ Vertex 4 (256gig) arrived today. Installed it, used Paragon Migrate OS to SSD to move OS & contents from old Vertex 2 to new Vertex 4.

Here's the down and dirty quick test....

    Vertex 2...

Even though my MB has two Marvel SATA 6GB controllers I've not used them, nor do I intend to.

Anyway that's my quick down and dirty benchmark. BTW I'm using my old Vertex 2 as an add on drive for photo editing purposes.

WEI didn't go up, still at 7.6

Good score Drew. I'm curious though, do you notice the rig being faster at all?

Sorry I didn't realise you was referring to me.
I was told to use the Intel ICH10R SATA 3.0gB/s connection as the SATA 6Gb/s has a Marvel controller.
I switched it back though as I was having problems with my game freezing.
I installed windows in ACHI mode, so I don't know why it's showing it as IDE
    Any ideas why?
I bought this Mo/Bo because it had SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0, should I sue ASUS for falsely advertising their products?

In the Bios the Marvell controller has a IDE/AHCI mode setting.
It is a seperate setting from the Intel controller AHCI.

I had to set it seperately on my Asus.

Downloaded your manual and found it for you.

Go into Bios find Advanced tab. Yours will show IDE as in the SNIP below.
Highlight Marvell controller as I circled in yellow. Press ENTER.
    Select AHCI press ENTER.
Exit and Save new Bios settings.
Of course change Boot order when you switch the SSD over to the Marvell controller.

Look in your moboard manual how to set it.
Hi I set my BIOS to ACHI when I installed window 7, but, I just remembered that I cleared the CMOS since, I expect that it defaults to IDE, I have put it back to ACHI, is there a way to check that it has not affected my computer, as I don't fancy re-installing Windows again?

You set the Marvell controller seperately from the Intel?

Setting the Intel will not set the Marvell. You showed IDE mode with the Marvell controller with AS SSD.

Neither of the bios settings will change Windows AHCI setting. That is in Windows 7 itself.

Clearing CMOS probably defaulted the Marvell back to IDE.
