    Just got my 2 Samsung SSD 840 Pro series in the mail.... Now i just have to wait on my laptop. Maybe i will image my home PC and install them on there while i wait. Oh man I'm excited. I will post speeds when its up an running.

    Parman, the best practice for SSD is to do a full clean install so you get the format and alignment correct. Images don't work very well, I have experience trying, lol.

    You're correct i remember about having to actually manually change the alignment if you're doing an image. I will probably just wait till i get my laptop.

    Imaging works very well - if you do it right. Macrium can even do the alignment for you.

    Partition alignment and the Macrium Reflect cloning and restore function




    To preserve the source partition alignment either...
    1. Select the source partition check box(es) and click the 'Copy selected partitions' link.
    2. Drag and drop the source partition(s) to free space on the target disk
