I read some of your past posts regarding SSDs etc. Yeah! The 840 Pro is FAST!
I took out my optical device and replaced it with a caddy. Tossed my older PB22- into it as my second SSD. The pc is blistering now.
So your pc is being built to spec right? Great! Good choice the Samsung Pro.

Brink, not that it matters, it's still aligned right, but how did you get that alignment?. It is ususally either 1024 or if you have the 100MB partition it's 103424.

This OCZ Vector is definitely on my shopping list. Just waiting for a Newegg sale. My 60GB M4 is getting a little tight now that I have also Windows 8 running on it in virtual.

It's the partitions installed for a UEFI GPT OS installation.

Here is an interesting collection of data measuring the top SSDs. The Vector and the 840 pro seem to be top dog. I wonder why they did not include the M4.

There was certainly a problem with the Plextor. That model may have been defunct. Also they compared 512GB models with 256GB models which is not quite fair. The bigger models are usually a bit faster anyhow.

Also a point of interest, OCZ spend 18 months working on the Vector, when the company had fallen on hard times, and came out with a monster product. Definitely one of the top SSD's in terms of performance. The top 3 in my opinion are the 840 Pro from Samsung, the OCZ Vector, and the Corsair Neutron GTX....and the Plextor M5 Pro could be thrown in that mix as well.

The M4's don't have the write speeds of the others mentioned. However, as an OS drive, I've never seen that bother anyone, certainly not me. The read speeds are comparable.
