ignatzatsonic, No case yet unless I use my old Gateway case, but as I mentioned I am looking at the Corsair carbide series 300R case. I just didn't want the main guts to run over $500.00. this is more a Hot Rod Office PC than a gamer.

I've bought a lot of stuff from TigerDirect.ca and don't have any complaints. I've just recently started buying from NewEgg.ca, now that they ship to Canada. Prices seem to be lower but shipping time is quit a bit longer than from TigerDirect. For me anyway. Also the last order from NewEgg, a PC case, arrived damaged. :( There wasn't a mark on the box either? I guess sooner or later that stuff happens, but if it happens again they have lost my business.

Since you want to go with AMD, I would recommend getting an AMD APU processor. They're relatively fine, I recently used a dual core APU in a recent build and it's totally fine for normal usage.

Unless you're going for gaming, I'd stay away from Intel, I find it's a little too pricey for daily usage.

Also, the graphics card you have, is it CrossFire enabled?

OH! Before I forget, do have in your budget for a 32 or 64 gig Solid State Drive? Using that as your primary drive for programs and Windows, it will make you fly! The hard drive can be used to store media files and other files.

Can you sugest a part number for the processor and a suitable motherboard, so I could check prices?

No mark on the box means the damage could have occurred anyplace from the factory to your door, however the shipping company should be liable for damage, concealed or not.

It's an ASUS board with USB 3.0 and eSATA. I think I might look into that to see if it's a decent board. I haven't used one of these boards personally for a build.

This here is a dual core APU, it's a lower end APU though. I figure that would be ample enough for a decent puter. I think I actually used this for a build a few weeks ago. It's rather decent I would say. Paired with your current graphics card, it would be fine.
