Sony Vaio VPCF111FD not recongizing blank CD when placed in tray

It was working a few weeks ago, I have been trying to burn data on RIDATA CD-R discs and have tried several blank discs and its the same for all.

The MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ141AS drive recognizes discs with data on them (I tried a CD installation disc with MS Flight Sim 2000 on it); I could read the data on the drive by going through start-computer and then drive F....

Opps mid-course correction here.... after reading that disc (MS FS 2000) I tried the blank one again and it found it this time....that brings up another issue.... why is it working now. Interestinly the box that popped up asked if I wanted to use it "like a flash drive" or a music CD. I chose the former, no further prompting came up so I dragged my files to the drive at it seems to be writing them.

Is it cured or this just a temp fix?

    Thanks in advance

well....answered part of my own question....it was temporary.... I tried another blank disc and once again it fails to see its there

    Dear kenora,
Welcome to the forums. I suggest you try two things,1) Insert a blank disk of a different manufacturer(Sony) and 2) visit this site: Microsoft Fix it Solution Center: troubleshooting software issues

Did you ever update the DVD driver?

    Best wishes,
    sreedhav
