    Hard Disk 1(301) Error


    Dear sevenforums friend Please help me in this trouble.

    - FIRST ERROR WHILE I OPENING LAPTOP (MESSAGE ON BLACK SCREEN)
    * Serial number not found
    - AFTER THAT ANOTHER MESSAGE ON BLACK SCREEN
    *Smart hard disk error
    the smart hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. to ensure not data loss please backup the content immediately and run the Hard disk test in system diagnostics.
    Hard disk 1 (301)
    F2 system diagnostics
    Enter Continue stratup For more information please visit:- www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup
    -NOW IF I ENTER WINDOWS WILL RUN AS NORMAL
    AND AGAIN IN WINDOW I CAN SEE AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING
    * windows detected a hard disk problem
    -BUT IF I CANCEL THE ERROR MY LAPTOP WILL RUN AS NORMAL PROCEDURE.
    - ALL THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE OF WINDOW VISTA WHICH WAS IN TRIAL VERSION FOR 30 DAYS AND WISH TO INSTALL IN THE LAPTOP AND DID. WHILE I WAS ON THE PROCESS FOR VISTA INSTALLATION I DELETED ALL THE RECOVERY AND GENUINE FILE FROM THIS LAPTOP HARD DISK NOW SOME SAYS THERE IS SECURITY PROTECTION THAT'S WHY IT HAPPENS LIKE THIS BUT STILL IN CONFUSION. PLEASE HELP ME IF I INSTALL NEW HARD DRIVE WILL IT BE OKEYA. WHEN I SEARCH ON HP WEBSITE IT SAYS HARD DISK ERROR BUT STILL I CAN RUN MY WINDOWS.

    have you tryed running chkdsk to see what it brings up?

    -i tried just know and message comes:
    *Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode.

    Laptop: HP compaq Presario CQ61 425EA.
    When I installed Thirty days trial vista and then after I got many problems on my laptop. I searched some of the website for a help and somebody guide me to download and install new bios. I did and installed INSYDEH20 SETUP UTILITY REV 3.5 BIOS then after this problem added on my laptop. I already got HARD DISK 1 (301) ERROR TOO. PLEASE HELP.
    * Serial number not found
    * please enter ESC key to Startup menu.

    Click the Start Button > Type cmd > Right Click Cmd > Click Run as Administrator > Click Yes > Type chkdsk

    This will give you administrative/elevated privileges to run chkdsk.

    P.S.
    Do you mean these problems occurred with Windows Vista or prior to installing Windows Vista?
    Did it have Vista by default? You should do a Windows 7 clean install, since Vista may be unstable with your system.

    If we type in cmd dos will appear on the computer and dos how can we do right click. I didn't understand. please ken can you tell me step by step

    Click on the Start Button and type CMD. I didn't tell you to open/enter CMD. (then continue the steps I mentioned earlier)
