Kodak C315 printer stopped working no error message?

I am trying to help my elderly neighbour, this is his problem-

He bought a Kodak C315 printer in September last year and used it without a problem for 5 months but then it stopped working giving no error message.

We uninstalled the printer and software, ran the kodak clear software and then reinstalled the printer which appeared to be a complete success, with both Windows and the Kodak software reporting a successfull install including drivers.

Windows said the printer was ready to use and also shows it as a correctly installed printer, nothing will print. If you ask for printer properties it says printer driver not installed despite Windows and the install software saying they were

If you click on update device driver and choose the Kodak driver directory the printer model is listed but then on attempting to install the driver windows says it encountered a problem, "No driver selected for the device information set or element"?

Tried everything including the latest software from the kodak website but windows just keeps saying drivers not installed when asking for printer properties despite both the Kodak software and Windows saying the printer was installed successfully and is ready.

He is running Windows 7 ultimate 32bit.

I am at a loss as to what to try next.

Thanks for your help.
