Need help, middle mouse not working

I was using 3DS MAX and during my working session my middle mouse stopped working. After reinstalling couple of times 3DS max it did not fix until i paid a little attention to my mouse which has been at fault.

My mouse's middle button cannot be pressed. i can scroll up and down, i can use left and right mouse but i cannot hold my scrolling wheel, can some one help me?

    Mouse: Razer imperator
    OS: W7 home premium 64bit

Did delete and reinstall mouse drive.

    Can some one help me?

Maybe mouse is defective. If you have any spare mouse, attach it and check if the middle button is working or not.

Before you buy a new mouse, you might want to dismantle the old one and make sure it's not dirt that's causing the problem.
