Windows 7: Cannot queue multiple documents to printer

Cannot queue multiple documents to printer

I am running an HP Laptop with factory installed Windows 7 Home 64bit, v6.1, B7601: SP1. Through Windows Action Center, I have selected "Install Updates Automatically."

I have a USB connected printer (HP).

I am having several print-related problems which only just started happening in the past month or so.

1. I am unable to queue multiple documents. By this I mean, if I print a document, it will begin to spool and print immediately, but if I print another document before the first is finished printing, I get "Error -Printing" as the document status. I cannot pause or restart the document. The only thing that seems to work is to delete the document from the print queue, go back to my original document and print it again.

2. If I unplug my laptop from my printer to use it another location/room, I can request to print a document, but when I return to my office and plug the printer back into the USB plug, I then get "Error - Printing" as the document status. If I have queued multiple documents to print while away from my printer, they all show up as "Error - Printing".

3. I seem to be getting multiple copies (Copy 1, Copy 2, etc) of my printer. I assume this is when I unplug and replug, but I do not know for sure.

4. If I select "Use Printer Offline" when away from my printer, then reconnect, then print a document, nothing prints until I unselect that option.

Prior to a month-ish ago, I could queue and print multiple documents while connected to my printer. I could queue multiple documents while away from my printer and have them print once reconnected. The "Use Printer Offline" option was always checked, and I never had to toggle that setting when unconnecting or reconnecting.

I have tried multiple reboots. Device Manager says I have the "best" driver.

I cannot think of any program that I have installed that would affect it my printer.

Suggestions welcome. TYVM!
