Just installed windows 7, now mouse stutters/freezes/disconnects?

Just got windows 7 on my computer. Was running windows xp before. Ive been using the mouse i am now for over a year with no problems. Now since i went to windows 7, it often stutters when doing anything on my computer. The stutters usually are about a second long and are completely random. I could be playing a game, browsing the web, or anything else and it will stutter. When it does stutter, i do hear the "bu-dum" sound as if it was being disconnected/reconnected instantly. Sometimes the stutters dont happen for an hour, sometimes i get 5 within 15 seconds. Ive tried installing drivers and what not, even googled and perused the forum a lot but i cant seem to find anything that helps. Im not sure if this was covered or not, but i could really use some help here as its been going on for days now. Thanks!

Hello Jetten and welcome to Seven Forums.

Did you get the mouse driver from the manufacturer's website and did they specifically have a driver for Windows 7? You could try using a Vista driver and run it in compatibility mode.

    Compatibility Mode

You could also open Device Manager, right click the mouse and click on the menu item to update driver. I'd try the option to search the internet to see if Windows 7 can find a better driver for you.
