    Issues with a Xerox scanner, device not recognized by computer


    Hey guys,

    My Xerox Documate 510 scanner is flat out not recognized by my computer. Its not showing up as an "unspecified" device in Device Management, and I don't see an unidentified device category in Device Manager. Wondering what the problem is, as I have a huge backlog of papers I need to digitize.

    I've installed the drivers and used the scanner on other Win 7 computers without a problem, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

    Dear Greenfire,
    Kindly unplug the scanner from the PC and re-plug and check! Secondly, uninstall the Drivers and re-install from here: Xerox DocuMate 510 Drivers and Manuals .Restart/reboot after the installation is complete.

    Make sure the scanner is not connected to your computer until you have installed the drivers.

    Once you've installed them you can switch your scanner on, and then connect the USB lead, after which Windows should detect the scanner.

    Hey guys,
    Thanks for the responses. Tried everything as specified, but the scanner still isn't being recognized by the computer. I really hope its not the case but if there's nothing else that can be done, I'll toss it in the trash and buy a new one.

    Does it not come with an installation CD? Kindly post a snap of what's seen in >Control Panel>Hardware and devices. Checkout mine.
