    Bricked Acer Aspire 1700

My friend has a Acer Aspire 1700 we wanted to install Windows 7 but that didn't worked (ACPI error (BSOD)) ....

Well booted again in Windows XP updated the bios (I thought maybe that fixes the ACPI issue ...)

Well after the program said bios flashed succesful I rebooted and now the Acer bios runs in a loop

F2 ..... doesn't work anymore (so a brick) Question is is there any recovery option to make the laptop work again ?

    It's a Phoenix Bios

I've seen it where that an updated BIOS on some boards require that you press a different key other than F2.
Try booting using F10 or one of the other F keys.

It looks like it is trying to boot to a network drive. Try resetting the BIOS defaults.

This solution to recover from a bad BIOS flash may help:

Although it is for the ACER ONE, it should work if you have or can get the Crisis Disk software and a BIOS .FD file.

Ok it's fixed now but is there any way to bypass ACPI and get Windows 7 on It there is a bios on the acer site dated from 2008 but it has a wrong date that bios is just the standard bios from 2004

This laptop has acpi but it's version 1.0 (I think)

And I readed that windows 7 needs 2.0

Just a thought: go to the Intel website and see if they have an ATK0110 driver that is newer then the one you have now (if you do have one).

Also, if you have any SATA disks on that machine, install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver too.

Fix Acer Aspire 1700 ACPI BIOS Error in Windows 7 Installation

Acer Aspire 1700 ACPI Bios error in Windows 7 installation happens suddenly and made it stop the installation process. Looks like the BIOS is not compatible, because error appears, ““The BIOS is not fully compatible with APCI“. According to Acer site, Acer Aspire 1700 laptop can only be installed XP, but not Windows 7. But don’t give up yet, since you can try our workaround to make Aspire 1700 runs Windows 7.

First of all, get BIOS upgrade on the BIOS tab on Support Downloads page for Acer Aspire 1700 by visiting Acer site here. You would see a BIOS upgrade which is for XP in 2008. This would enable APCI so Windows 7 can install.
After downloading, make sure that the BIOS update is compatible with your models. This can be seen when you are doing boot-up screen or on BIOS setup. Check for APCI setting on BIOS. After upgrading the BIOS, you can also download drivers for XP and follow Windows 7 installation. The process should works successfully.
    TBH i wouldn't put 7 on.... the spec's aren't all that good for 7

Thats *** fake info the date says 2008 on the site but if you download the file (it's the standard 2004 bios)
