Windows 7: Blu-ray Drive won't play

Blu-ray Drive won't play

I got a new Blu-ray drive today, ande all was good and installed until I popped a blu-ray and it didn't play. It stated its reason was because

Quote:
This content is only allowed on a digital output. Ensure your display device uses a DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort connector. -(Code = 0121)
So I ran a BD Advisor to scan if this thing works for playback, and everything my computer has passed each result, except for one:

Quote:
Video Connection Type: Analog
BD Ready? No
What does that mean?

One theory is my monitor, which isn't an HD Monitor at all. It's this thing:

If that's so, then I should've gotten the HD Monitor when I got the drive. But is that right?

Again, what seems to be wrong with this?

take the blu-ray drive back to place of purchase for a refund as looking at your system specs your entire computer is not able to play blu-ray movies and also the monitor.

Really? But it's an external drive, not internal. You mean to tell me that no matter what, this won't play blu-rays even if the drive itself is outside with only the USB connecting it?

I mean everything else that passed were: CPU, GPU, System Memory, OS, Graphics Card/Driver, Blu-ray Player, Software Player: all of them passesd, except for Video Connection.

I really believe this to be true as i had to build a complete new system Feb 2011 so i could play and burn blu-rays.
the blu-ray can only play with other hardware and software that is for blu-ray such as a graphics card the cpu and audio device and blu-ray player software such as Cyberlink Power DVD 10 that i use for playing blu-ray.
I could be wrong on this but i spent allmost a full day just researching blu-ray for computers.

I'm guessing you are using a VGA (analog) cable with your current monitor.
I believe what you need is a monitor with an HDMI input (and HDMI cable).

If you have a friend with a LCD monitor with HDMI, see if you can try it with your PC.
If you have a HD TV with HDMI you should also be able to connect your PC to that, and see if Blu-Ray works.

This way you could test your PC with Blu-Ray before buying a new monitor.

IDK, in my computer section, under removable storage, is BD-ROM Drive. Why have that when it can't play it? I think I'm missing something.

Well, my brother has an all-in-one computer, so I don't know if I test it on that. Plus, I'm gonna get a new monitor anyway as this one has been flickering from time to time.

his computer is fine for playback he just needs a digital display to work with the program he is using for playback.
It is due to DRM and so the program wants an HDCP compliant display.

download this program and see if this will work on your current monitor,
http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvdhd.html

this disables DRM and HDCP so it should play after you run this program. it is a trial so you can test it out.

I'm betting your monitor is NOT capable of HDMI (or any digital input) and you need that for Blu-Ray.

I knew it! The idea of my computer not playing Blu-rays didn't make sense. Sure, it has an installed DVD Player, but why have a BD-ROM Drive listed?

Anyway, I'am going to get an HD Monitor, as it was part of the plan, but I wanted to get it later instead of getting...everything at once, y'know.

And the pic above with the monitor; that is my monitor, and it is old. Which explains this problem, right?

Under the "Download" page, it is the one titled "AnyDVD & AnyDVD HD " that I'm suppose to dl, right?
