    Newegg.com - AMD Motherboards

You can just make a selection and narrow it down.
AFter you are done picking let us know and we can help you investigate if it will work with your CPU. AM2 and AM2+ tend to have the same pins but we need to look at the manufactures support list before knowing if it will work.

Can you please update your specs so we can help you chose better?

I am unable to install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (and 32)

I have a system that I built several years ago and has run XP Pro until I tried to upgrade to W7. MS Advisor was satisfied my configuration met 7's needs.

    ASUS M2N32-SLI Premium Vista
    AMD Athlon 62 x2 3GHz
    4 GB Corsair PC2 6400 DDR2
Currently using a 500GB WD SATA drive
    SONY DVD RW optical

I boot the install disc and eventually the Windows installer begins it's installation which stops a step 2, unpacking the files. "setup.exe" returns an error message stating that "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume GSP1RMCPRXFRER_EN_DVD into drive D:" But when I read the disc on my XP laptop, it is identified by the name above.

Many calls to Microsoft Installation Support elicited finally that the hardware isn't supported. The last thing they advised was to upgrade the BIOS or throw the system out and buy new. I had been running on the latest BIOS, 1202, from ASUS, but just in case, I re-installed it. (Later versions were marked as experimental.) No change, W7 still not installing.

My last install attempt I hit "Continue" and invoked the command utility and looked at the disc drives. My SATA drive had a directory structure without any files and I was told the DVD was in a format the utility couldn't read (ISO.) I also checked memory with another utility which passed it.

The frustrating thing is when I visit the ASUS forums, I read of other users with similar configurations successfully installing W7 although there are some driver issues as ASUS does not support W7 for this board.

    Very frustrated.
