    Mouse input not recognized

Hi, I'm using the (painfully slow) keyboard to use my cursor as my computer disconnected my USB mouse when I woke up the computer a couple of days ago and hasn't accepted mouse input since. This particular mouse works fine on my laptop, as do the other two (wireless) mice that I tested. My wacom tablet is also unable to affect the cursor.

I tried deleting all drivers from the USB and mouse sections of the device manager and a hard restart, no change.

I checked the bios and it seems to say that usb is being recognized. I can still use the ports to charge my phone and they light up my wacom and wireless mouse, just don't accept input.

    malwarebytes came up empty.

    thanks for your attention :)

    Hi,

completed the profile, couldn't figure out what my motherboard is though.

I'm trying to get any mouse to work, I have an old wacom graphite tablet and a usb microsoft wheel mouse optical and a wireless usb mouse (microsoft wireless notebook laser mouse 6000).

I don't have any ps2 mice to try out though.

Let stay with one mouse. usb Microsoft wheel mouse optical.
Make sure the batteries are new and installed properly. A mouse will work crazy if installed wrong. If this mouse is the kind that has a transceiver that plugs into the usb and the mouse is speriate there are little button on the mouse and transceiver that sync them. If this doesn't work go here and let Microsoft check for compatibility.

Hm well the mouse works perfectly, I use it on my laptop.

I'll run that software from home when I get back to the computer, hopefully it will tell me something interesting.

    Thanks for the advice.

Hi again, back from vacation and now to tackle this mouse again...
Still using the keyboard, thanks for the suggestion of the software but it didn't find anything.

Interestingly when I tried to move some files using a usb key and a portable usb drive neither was recognized, so it may be something deeper.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

On your first post you mention it recently stop working, any new software, drivers, or system updates where done?

Does your mouse work inside safe mode?
    Safe Mode

From my understanding you have confirmed that the USB slot does work right? You have pluged in something else and confirm it works? For some reason just not Mice(mouse)..

    nothing new

    Hi,

No, nothing has been changed it was very sudden.

The USB ports actually don't appear to work - I thought they did because I could charge my MP3 player through them but now I see that's just because of the current going through them, the device itself is not recognized.

The mouse doesn't work in safe mode either, unfortunately.

See if you can test more hardware like keyboard or printer or something alike for more testing. Do any of your usb ports work?
