Usb Hard drives will not work

I have 1 Usb2 WD Passport, 1 Usb3 WD Passports, 1 Ocz Enyo and 1 Super Talent RC 8. Been working great until the issue cropped up about a week ago.

    The Usb2 Passport works fine.

The Enyo was working great until it died (internal problem being rma'd) so I won't know until the new one arrives.

The Super Talent and the Usb3 Passport are now having recognition problems. They can be seen by "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media and by Device Manager but they cannot be seen by My Computer or by Disk Management on any of my 3 computers. When this issue first cropped up I had just hooked up one of the new Usb3 Passports. Made a couple backups with no issues. Next day the issue began and I could not resolve it so I rma'd the Passport. At that the others were working until I need to backup some of the family's computers a few days ago. The new Passport had come in so I backed up a couple partitions with no issue until I hooked it to my computer which would not recognize it. Tried the RC8, same thing.
The Usb2 Passport still works. Two days of research and still no solution. Have read numerous postings that Win 7 has USB issues but not sure about that.

Any Suggestions as to what to look for.

Can forget about the Ocz Enyo, no longer in production. Must be having lots of issues with them. Ocz offered to swap it out for an internal Vertex 2 but I have Vertex 3 internals now so that's not very appealing. Dang it! That was one fast usb drive!

So the Super Talent and USB3 WD acted up immediately after the OCZ died and only then?

Does the device manager have any conflicts regarding them (in red or orange or something), as you said they can be seen there. Any other info relevant to your problem included in other areas of device manager, such as in "Properties"?

I'm grabbing at anything here to get something going.

IIllytch321, I cannot find any areas of issue in the device manager, no conflicts and properties says they are working fine. Unhid usb drivers and there were no unused drives there. Throughout the day, I have been plugging the Passport in to see what would happen. About the 10th time, it showed up in disk management as an unallocated drive. Attempted to make a new volume but it could read the drive. Disk management would not format the drive so I went to my computer where it was now showing up, attempted a quick format which did work. Backed up my data drive to it with no issues. Just done another sucessful backup to the drive. Working as if nothing was wrong.

The RC8 still has the same problems plus a couple more I just discovered. Restart the machine with the RC8 in and the machine hangs at "shutting down". Take it out and the machine shuts down. If the RC8 is in the machine when it reboots, the computer hangs at "loading operating system" until the drive is removed which is strange since I have boot to usb and boot to cd disabled for faster startup time. Should not even look at the RC8 when it reboots.

The more I think about OCZ's offer, the madder I get. I purchased the Enyo Nov 5th and just short of 4 months crapped out. Obviously the 3 year warranty is not worth the paper it is wrote on. OCZ very generously offered to exchange a$259 Enyo for a $155 Vertex 2. Total freaking insult! The only good thing out of this is it happened in time for me cancel an order for 2 Vertex 3 Max IOPS which I really wanted but am now leary of. Guess I'll hang the Enyo on the wall as a reminder. Now I got to find a good hard drive company as I will need at least 4 more hard drives just for my computers in the next two months.

Great that you got the one working, but I am of no help to you at this point.

Reminds me of something that happened to me. My keyboard has a shut down function key combination, and once I pressed it while Windows was already shutting down, so it shut down like normal. But the next time I pressed the power button on the tower it instantly popped up with the Windows shut down screen with no BIOS or anything and hung there indefinately; very odd.

And that trade does seem a bit off; I'm behind your choice in seeking a different brand, my ego couldn't take such a beating, heh. But dude, drill a hole in that mother, make a necklace out of it, and craft a catchy, mesmerising story about it, for fun, of course. Someone else's idea might be more productive, though, heh.
