Windows 7: Bluetooth will not discover devices after W7 Upgrade

Bluetooth will not discover devices after W7 Upgrade

I recently upgraded my Acer Aspire One AOD150 Netbook to Windows 7 (32Bit) Home Premium with a clean install, everything works fine except for Bluetooth.

I have installed latest drivers from the Acer site but to no avail. According to the Acer Hardware detection utility I have a Broadcomm Bluetooth card.

The Netbook OS was originally Win XP with a Logitech V470 Bluetooth mouse which worked perfectly, I could also discover and user phones and other bluetooth devices.

I have checked to make sure the Bluetooth services are started, and also checked to make sure that Power Saving on the mouse is not enabled (this caused loss of device problems with my new Win7 (64bit0 PC - so I disabled it on the Netbook as well)

It seems that no Bluetooth devices can be discovered, I have checked that the Bluetooth is switched on and tried discovering other mice, phones and computers but the system resolutely fails to see any Bluetooth devices at all!

Would be grateful for any advice,

Windows 7 Ultimate x64, & Mac OS X 10.9.2

due to the age of the component id say that drivers are no longer supported for it. I have an old NEC laptop which i upgraded to windows 7, everything works fine bar the sound card, as they no longer make a driver to support it.

You maybe lucky and another broadcomm driver for a newer bluetooth chip may work, but its not likely.

That's rather depressing, I did try a Broadcomm driver that DriverEasy suggested but didn't work at all. on the other hand my daughter's old HP laptop which was upgraded to Win 7 works fine despite HP saying they did not recommend upgrading to Win 7

Windows 7

Just for good measure my Sony Vaio (win 7pro/64bit) which has been working fine with Bluetooth mice, phones etc is now refusing to connect to anything Bluetooth. What is going on? Is there anyway to test bluetooth? I can see the Vaio with my HTC phone but not vice versa. This is very frustrating.

Does anyone have a foolproof method to setting up Bluetooth wireless under windows 7, it is vey hard to know where to start. The Vaio only has one switch for Bluetooth and wi-fi whereas the Acer One in my earlier post has separate switches both wi-fi connections appear to work fine but Bluetooth seems to be unable to discover any devices on boy systems, coul this be the result of a windows update? I just don't know what to heck other than the Services manager and as far as I can tell the Bluetooth services are on automatic and started!

Any suggestions are very welcome
