    USB mismatch

    Hello

I have a IBM Thinkpad T60 and has 3 physical usb slots. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (trial version) and in the device manager it shows 5 USB root hubs. Could someone explain the mismatch, since my understanding is that the 2 values should match see attachment.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You may have other devices connected to USB within the laptop, such as a card reader, Smart Card reader, etc.

There's probably unused hubs on the motherboard. USB ports don't necessarily equate to hubs. Hubs can have multiple ports and can number from 1 to 8. Ideally, your three ports would be on three hubs serviced by three controllers. Each controller/hub has a bandwidth and this bandwidth is shared with all the ports connected to it.
