Scanner freezing, software issue

HI,
I'm having problem with Canon LiDE 200 scanner connected via USB2 to Win7 64bit OS.
Driver version: ScanGear for Vista 64bit 14.0.3.45
The problem started about 2months back, description: after I generate preview in ScanGear UI, the scanner freezes and quits any further communication with PC. I only can bring it back to operation by physical re-plugging USB cord. The remarkable thing on all the freezes is that the scanning head stays hang in the bottom position instead of drawing back to basic position. To reproduce the problem on another OS, I instaled fresh 32 bit Windows XP with 32bit version of ScanGear on Virtual box with exclusive access to scanner USB port. Made several scans with previews and surprisingly it worked flawlessly. Probably there must be something bad on my main OS. Tried to reinstall ScanGear but the problem continues. I don't understand where's the culprit, anybody can provide a valid solution, diagnostics?
Btw. the 64bit version of scanner driver worked fine in the past, concluding the driver self is ok too. Maybe there may be something preventing flawless comunication of ScanGear with the scanner?

Hello,

Using a vista driver on Windows 7 is not a verry good idea.Windows 7 and Windows vista are two different operating systems.Go to the cannon website and look for a Windows 7 driver.

Oh yes I know. But I think it's fine if manufacturer's web offers this version for both Vista and Win7 systems. Anyway the same version was working some months ago very well, then I'm not afraid too much of compatibility matter.

if they say it's ok it should be working. Are you still under warranty ? then you can ask them i don't use scanners so i'm out of ideas but if it whas working months ago it must be something you changed or the like.

I'm afraid warranty only applies to hw failures, this is on 90% some software problem that only can be fixed on my OS.

Any software for using a fingerprint scanner?
I don't mean using it to log in -- I mean just using it to view fingerprints. My laptop has one of those built-in fingerprint scanners. I used to use it to log in, but I upgraded to Windows 7 once it came out and didn't bother to find the driver. I don't really want to use it to log in, but if I...

HP XP software for printer/scanner won't install on W7.
I have a HP Laserjet 3050 PCL 5. The scanner software worked great with XP but won't install with W7. Has anyone found an alternate software? The printer is an all in one and it doesn't make sense to have to replace it because of the software. HP has been no help.

Need of good Scanning Software for Scanner
Hi guys, I'm looking for a good scanning software for scanners. The Canon one that comes with my scanner sucks. The software also has to support ADF scanning. Also, are there any free alternatives to Acrobat X Pro? I just need to modify PDF's, delete pages, add pages, replace pages, things...

HP OfficeJet Scanner Software Won't Install
Windows 7, Build 7000, installed without a hitch, and detected all necessary drivers, including for my HP 5610 Officejet. I can print from it, and I can scan from it using Windows Fax and Scan--thus the drivers are obviously working OK. When I try to install the Vista software from HP's disc,...

Where can I find my fingerprint scanner software?
Under device manager it says I have a "biometric device" called "TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor (WBF Advanced Mode). However, I can't find the software to activate it  any ideas?:geek:
