Windows 7: WIN7 x64 boot slow after using USB Floppy drive

I was having no problems with my Windows 7 X64 bit till I plugged in a USB floppy and copied some photos to the hard drive. The windows portion of the boot went to approx 5 times what it was. I have disabled all the boot devices except the hard drive and have uninstalled the driver that Windows 7 installed when I plugged in the floppy. Runs fine after the boot. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

I would expect the boot time to be longer when the USB floppy drive was plugged in but are you saying the the boot time was still longer when the USB floppy was unplugged? (before uninstalling the drivers etc.)

That is correct. The USB floppy is not plugged in. Thinking that Windows 7 was now looking for the floppy on boot, I disabled all the boot devices except the hard drive in the BIOS. While I had the floppy plugged in, I went to the device drivers and uninstalled the floppy. Thanks again for looking.

I think you need to update your windows , it might fix

Thanks dashti. I do keep windows up to date with the MS patches, so I don't think that is my situation. I actually tried rolling back to a point in time restore, and then reapplying the MS patches that would have been backed out of, but that didn't seem to help either. But I do appreciate you taking the time to look and comment, thanks !

I have just tried a USB 3.5" diskette drive. I notice no effect on boot time when removed. I can't give you an answer to your specific issue but it doesn't look like a general issue.
