How much space is in your case for a cooler?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103099 this is tall, about 6".
Lower profile but costly. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835608019

This is my case Full tower http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119239
ya i kinda like the first 1 u listed best cuz of price and seems to have good reviews, might snag that 1.
IT is one of the best, I have one. And you can add a second fan to it as well. :)
It will definitely fit a HAF-X case.
i also saw what looked like thermal compound that comes with the cheaper 1, i have to apply the thermal paste? asking cuz i never done that before and be little nervous if i did it wrong, kinda hoped it came pre applied lol.
alright good deal, makes me feel better bout it even if i have to apply the paste myself
Nope, you have to apply the pastes your self. My method is to apply about a rice grain sized bit of paste on the cooler surface, spread it carefully with your finger in a zip bag or other plastic bag. Then use a piece if cloth to wipe it off, it will fill in the microscopic pits. This is called tinning. the apply a rice grain drop on the CPU and put the cooler on it and mount with the screws.
Tighten the screws a little at a time diagonally. There are also many videos on youtube about this too.
The Stuff that comes with the cooler is pretty thin and will spread easily. I use Arctic Silver 5 and some people here like IC Diamond, have to go to Amazon for the IC brand.
hmm so the stock paste that comes with aint up to snuff eh, oi lol. ima assume too before i look on amazon that stuff aint cheap but ill snag it all cuz i dont wanna gimp the cooler and not get best cooling for it.
ok i was looking at the artic silver 5 and it seems pretty decent and good price but 1 of the reviews was saying about removing old paste from cpu before adding this. Now the stock intel fan comes pre applied so do i still need to do any cleaning to the cpu once i take the stock 1 off or what exactly?
Yes all old paste has to be removed completely. Arctic also has some liquid for that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100010
Rubbing alcohol or non-oily fingernail polish remover works too, but not as good.
If you're not using the Intel cooler you don't have to clean it, but if you do, yes clean the thermal pad off first.
ya im using the default intel one :/ lol
