| windows 7 starter 89 posts | BOTH my Usb hdd's have stopped working on windows 7 HI. I can use a usb pendrive, or a memory card reader in my usb. But both of my protable usb hard drives are not showing when plugged in. I have tried a usb 'Y' cable. but no good. Both drives work on my netbook.. But not on my windows 7 pc. Please advise. Thanks |

| Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit 2,265 posts NC | Where they working before in your windows 7 environment? Some of the older usb HDD are OS specific and bit specific (32 bit or 64 bit). Check with your USB HDD manufacturers specs to verify. |

| windows 7 starter 89 posts | a re-installation of my erntier operating system fixed it.. but now: when windows updates, it then reboots, and just hangs on the 'starting windows' screen.. only after it updates, works fine before. i will startt another thtread for this new nightmare.. |

| Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit 2,265 posts NC | Some times with a clean re-install, there are glitches from over writing or not over written correctly....it's happened to all of us at some point. Generally a re-install will fix that...I know it's not what you want to here. |
