Computer crashes at random and won't boot

For the last 1 month at random the computer would restart for no reason then after passing post I would get this error No warning lights are on the motherboard at post)
Disk I/0 error
Replace the disk, and press any key
When I go in the BIOS it's not showing my hard drive or DVD burner and windows 7 DVD won't read when i put the DVD in. If I put the Windows 7 USB flash drive it loads to where I would select the hard drive and I got a error saying that there are no hard drive detected.
I reset the BIOS 2 times with same problem the third time I took the battery out and turned off the PSU. I put the battery back in now it boots but now I had to install Windows 7/ Windows 8 again cause it would see the drive but the boot section was messed up. Any clue how to fix this cause resetting the BIOS and installing Windows every 1-2 weeks is now getting on my nerves. It's weird I would get no BSOD errors the computer locks up for a few seconds then it restarts. I get no Windows is restarting screen the screen goes blank then the computer turns off and restarts. Is this caused by installing Windows 8 and 7 on the same hard drive?

It might be be due to the following issues:

1. Hardware incompatibilities
2. Driver issues
3. Repair Windows Registry
4. Malware
5. Antivirus programs
6. Bugs in applications


Click Start - Run, type in %temp% and then click OK.

Once that temp folder is open and you can view its contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside it.

It's all junk and is a good place for "nasties" to hide.

If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

Repeat the steps with c:\windows\temp

After you're done with both temp folders, restart the computer.

I can't even do that cause the computer won't boot it gets past the post screen then I get this error as it tries to load Windows. I tried to install again but the Windows DVD won't load and when I try installing with a Win 7 flash drive it get's to where you select the hard drives and I get a error saying there's no hard drives detected. I never seen this problem before so I have no clue how to fix it. I was talking to ASUS and they told me all the parts installed are supported by this board.

Before I got this in the main BIOS screen it showed SATA channel 1-6 but now their gone.

I have all the newest drivers/BIOS but it's getting worse I just lost my USB 3.0 and SATA port 2 and 3 are dead that means my DVD burner isn't working I have to change it to another port. I have only 3 onboard sensors working the rest are dead, USB 2.0 is running very slow and not working right. I keep loosing my onboard sound and network card. I was talking to ASUS 3 times now and they told me all the weird BSOD errors and other problems can only mean 1 thing and they said the BIOS chip is corrupt and I don't think that's a good thing. They said it will get worse before it won't even post or power on they said this can be fixed 1 RMA the board or reinstall the BIOS but not sure how to do that lol I just ordered a new motherboard that's just came out the end of last year a new AM3+ ASUS board that will support the new FX series CPU's
Also Windows 7 won't load anymore when I try to install it, it BSOD and restarts so I'm stock with Win 8

Whenever I hear about random crashes or restarts, I immediately suspect power supply or memory. Does not matter how old or new your pc is.

Enlist a friend's help by using his (or her) computer to download and burn the iso of the Memtest utility. You'll have to ensure that the DVD drive is first in boot order. Test one memory stick at a time in the slot closest to the cpu overnight; that's 6-8 hours. If you have two sticks, that's two nights. If there are bad spots on a stick, an error will show in the lower portion of the test screen.

As to power supplies. When they start getting funky, they can take out other components on the mobo. And again, it does not matter how new the psu is. I always recommend to my people to have a spare one on hand all the time. That way the psu can be swapped out if it is suspected of causing trouble. Earthwatts and Corsair make darn good ones at around $100. I strongly suggest you purchase one. Cooler Masters have not been treated kindly by many reviewers.

Except for the memory testing, until you get the psu, do not try to use the machine.

Even if the power supply swap does not solve your issues, you still should have a spare.

I have this problem fixed by updating the BIOS and the motherboard works great but I still bought the new motherboard so I'm ready for the new AMD CPU's. Thanks for your help guys.
