| Windows 7: What do you chaps think? How should I change this? |

I do quite like the look of the phantek cooler. It is slightly more but it is a brilliant cooler and you cam put three fans on it! Slight change of plan though! I decided that I can't break up with my Great Grandfather's desk so won't be building a new one, at least not yet! Therefore, I am not going to need the touchscreen, I am going to save some money here! I will still need one display adapter though, does anyone know where to get one? So, what I am going to do is keep the three monitors, if I can't fit the 24" I can easily drop to the 22". I am sure I won't die! I will then have to make a separate case for the main hardware. Now, do you think it would be possible to make one out of wood? And if I decided to use acrylic, wouldn't grounding the case remove all static? | My System Specs |

Traditionally, nVidia graphics cards only supported 2 monitors. Exceptions were cards with dual GPUs (graphics processor units), which were essentially two cards that mounted in a single slot. The new GTX 680 cards support 4 monitors, but they're new, expensive (> £400), and scarce. AMD (ATI) have their "Eyefinity" feature: some cards support 6 monitors. I believe that the third cards and up must use Display Port (or Display Port adapters).
As regards the case, acrylic and wood are insulators, so I don't know how you'd "ground the case". There are commercial acrylic cases, so either there's a way, or it doesn't matter much. Unless you're quite handy, it may be less labor intensive to buy a case. The Lan Li Lancool (steel) cases look like a good compromise between price and quality. Thank you for replying. Yes, I am in the uk. Hardware is very expensive here ! As for the graphics cards. You are correct about nVidia but for amd and their eyefinity, the 7850 supports four monitors. On the backplate of the card is a dvi, hdmi and two mini display ports I think. Therefore, you have to get an adapter to use the mini display ports. I think anyway! As for the case, does it need grounding? I just want something different that I can build myself! I just don't see why you need to ground the acrylic or wood other than for static. Have a look at the link that was posted earlier about the acrylinc cases, I think it was the fourth or fifth post in this thread! Have just looked at that link, it looked perfect! Both the phantek and the noctua are the same price! I do prefer the colour of the phantek but I really don't know what to get! I think the phantek does cool slightly better but we are talking about 1 degree so it isn't a problem. I will research it but thank you for finding that link! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Packard Bell OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU AMD Turion(tm) Dual-Core Mobile M500 Motherboard Packard Bell EasyNote LJ71 Memory 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 Graphics Card AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Sound Card ATI High Definition Audio Device (Integrated) Monitor(s) Displays 1st: Built in 17.3" 16:9 2nd: Philips 17.1" 4:3 Screen Resolution 1st: 1600x900 2nd: 1280x1024 Keyboard Integrated Mouse Touchpad & logitek wireless mouse M205 PSU Laptop battery/power brick Case Laptop Cooling Custom built cooling stand Hard Drives 2x WD blue scorpio 500GB Internet Speed 0.2mb/s download Other Info Wireless adapter:

Right, this is how my spec is looking! Case: I have decided that I will build a wooden one, it has been done many times before and there aren't too many problems with it. CPU: Intel i7 3930k Intel BX80619I73930K Core i7-3930K 6-Core Processor (3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo), Socket 2011, 12MB L3 Cache, Turbo Boost 2.0): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories Mobo: Asus P9X79 pro Asus P9X79 PRO Motherboard (Socket 2011, Intel X79, DDR3 Quad Channel, ATX, PCI Express 3.0, Dual Intelligent Processors 3 with New DIGI+ Power Control): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories RAM: Quad channel DDR3 16GB. Disk Drive: Will see what I can get, Samsung, LG, whatever really! PSU: 1000w Silverstone SST-ST1000-G Strider 1000W Power Supply - Scan.co.uk CPU cooling: Have decided on the Noctua, because of lower noise, pwm fans and the customer service! Apparently you can add a third fan on to it, does anyone know which fan I should get? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-D14-2...3160009&sr=1-8 Thermal compound: Will use the one that comes with the Noctua Sound card: Not going to get one OS: Win 7 home premium Keyboard: Still need some ideas here! Please help!
Total = £1,787 (~$2,858) without keyboard, RAM, eyefinity adapter, Case fans.
OK, so help still needed on the following: Keyboard, Eyefinity adapter, Extra fan for the Noctua, Recommendations on the RAM would also be nice! Finally, case fans, big and quiet, what do you suggest?

Just a couple here. I would get the Noctua cooler with the Arctic Silver combo or get some IC Diamond which Amazon US sells at least. Use another Noctua fan if you need one on the cooler.

Thanks for replying, The noctua apparently comes with thermal paste so I think I will just use that. For the fan on the cooler, do I get the 120mm or the 140mm one? I know the cooler comes with one of each, was just wondering which one I should get! As for the RAM, I need something that won't get in the way of the cooler, would this hamper the cooler?
