reza, welcome to SF. I'm a AMD guy but all Intel i7's are either quad cores or six cores. All i5's are quads and all i3's are dual cores. But I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again but I'm fairly confident on this.

I was thinking that Core i3's are dual cores.core i5's are either dual cores and core 2 quads and core i7's are either quad cores and six cores.

But in several sites have been written core i7 dual core hence I doubted but I think there are no core i7's dual cores

Yeah and I'm not ready to stake my life on this but I think I'd be willing to bet $100.00.....lol. I just bought a i3 lappy and it's dual core, I wanted to by a i5 but it was too expensive and my research I found that they are all quad cores and the i7 dream lappy was all quad with the desktop option of course being quad and the premium i7 being 6 cores.

The desktop i7 products are 4 core or more.
The mobile i7 products are 2 core or more.

The first series of Arrandale mobile processors, the i7's were dual cores (see also: i7-6x0m) I'll send you my paypal account for the $100 In reality, those Core i7 duals were just extra cache versions of the i5 and generally binned for higher frequencies -- and not much else.

The Core 2 Duo and the Core i3/5/7 dual cores are fundamentally different because of their architecture. Core 2 Duo series are an older architecture, each singular processor will get less work done and use more power than each singular core from an i3/i5/i7 processor. There isn't actually an "i7 core 2 quad", what you probably meant was simply "i7 quad core".

So, to answer your question: an i7 dual core only existed in mobile form (Arrandale), and an i7 quad core existed on all desktops and later laptops (Sandy Bridge.)

You aren't confusing the 'core i7 core2 quad' with the 2nd gen of i7's are you? ie Sandy Bridge?

Otherwise as Albuquerque mentioned, the only dual core i7's were mobile chips.

On the desktop, all Core I7 CPUs have 4 or 6 cores. They also support hyperthreading, so Windows reports 8 or 12 CPUs.

The desktop I5 chips are also quads, but they don't support hyperthreading.
