Internal SD reader and WIFI adapter not working after win 7 re-install

I have an Acer Aspire One Nav 50 with windows 7 starter 32 bit. I recently did something stupid and ended up having to completely re-install windows.

The Wireless works sometimes but it usually is not working. It basically seems like it is turned off, it shows that there are no networks available even though there are. I have used Device Manager to update the drivers a few times. I also deleted the drivers and let them re-install like that. It is an Atheros AR5B93.

The internal SD card doesn't work at all. When i put a card in nothing happens and it doesn't show up in "Computer". But When i have a card in it and go to device manager it shows up under "Other Device" (something like that) and the number UB6250. I've tried updating the drivers for every USB Device that shows up in device manager.

Everything works ok except the wireless and the internal SD reader. I had no problems with them before the reinstall of windows. The normal USB ports work fine. Windows is at SP1.

    thanks for any help

Go to Acer's website...look up you model number and download all the current drivers for your notebook/netbook.

That worked for the card reader but not for the wireless.

It still shows that no connections are available. Normally I can see mine and a few of my neighbors. I know its not a hardware problem, my computer is dual boot and the Ubuntu partition still works fine.

The light for the WIFI on the netbook indicates that it is on but i can't get it to turn off. I thought turning it on and off might work. But when i do the Fn + F2 combo it doesnt do anything.

    thanks

    Hi there
Do you know if it's the Broadcom or Atheros Wireless -- the ACER computers come with one or other of these wireless drivers.

There's no harm in loading both if you don't know which one is REALLY in the PC. Only the correct one will work anyway.

    Just try downloading from here

device manager shows it as the Atheros. I tried both anyway, still didn't work.

Like i said before, it does occasionally work, but only after the computer has been off for a while. But not everytime when it has been off for a while. I think.
I'm just trying to give more info that will help you guys out.

    any ideas?

I tried updating drivers for the chipset, lan, and modem also. Just in case one of these things is supposed to be telling the stupid wifi that its on. But that didnt do anything either. Im running windows update right now but there was only 1 small "important" update so im not hopeful that will help.

So please feel free to throw out any other ideads.

thats weird, i edited that last post and it made it 2 different posts... anyway

WIFI works fine if the computer has been off for a while then i turn it on. I havent done any tests to see how long it needs to be off. I do know it is more than a minute. I waited a minute thinking that would be enough but it wasn't. Seems like after that long the memory would be all blank and it would be fine.

Well, i'm rambling so, have a nice day.
