HP Recovery Manager not working after converting C: to Logical Volume

Hi Friends,

Though i have used the information available on this site numerous times, but have never started a thread but this time around i used the info available on a thread at :-
how to partition hp laptop
and now i am in a problem.

Please note, i am not claiming that information on above thread is faulty but basically when i tried doing it, my system got issues, i take the fault for it.

Problem desc:-

I Bought a new HP laptop with Windows 7 and as usual, it had 4 Primary partitions:-

1 SYSTEM
2 C: (OS)
3 D: (Recovery)
4 E:HP TOOLS

I needed to create extra partitions, hence following advice given on above link & several others, i used Acronis Disc Director to do this :-
1. convert the C: to Logical partition
2. Resize the C: & free up space from C:
3. Create new logical volumes from the freed up space.

Now my problem is when i am trying to use HP REcovery Manager to "Reset my PC to Factory Settings", it doesn't work. When i try to do it from the recovery manager S/W installed in Windows, after reboot the screen with multiple options again pops up, but the option for "Reset to Factory Setting" is disabled (does not allow me to choose it).

I also tried to boot using my Recovery discs (created using HP Recovery manager), using the CD boot, i can select the "Reset to Factory Setting" option but then it fails with error - "Device not connected" or something like that. though the C: is present & i can use the existing Windows installation.

Please help, i need to start installing my apps/games on my laptop, but first trying to ensure that Recovery manager will work in future ( and i can re-install Windows), if something fails.

I know this topic has been discussed in this site at length for years, but i specifically want to know that those folks who have used this method of converting C: to Logical Partition, have they ever tried using HP Recovery manager & Reset to Factory Setting through it ? Just would like to know what exactly is it that i am doing wrong here ? is it because of using Acronic Disc Director instead of Partition Wizard ?

Gurus, Experts, Please help
