Logitech G5 Erratic movements.

Hi guys,

I recently installed release 7600 of Windows 7, and all is well except for one or two minor issues.

As of late, my Logitech G5 mouse keeps on erratically scrolling up and down on it's own, and sometimes it's fine.

I had XP SP3 previously and it worked fine. I really think this has something to do with Win7. :sarc:

I've read on the forum that someone else had the same problem and he/she replaced the mouse and it's working fine, but I know this mouse isn't faulty.

Is there anyone with the same issue that perhaps has a fix for me?

I'm running the latest SetPoint (Version 4.80.103 - Device 4.82.11).

G5 with the same version of Setpoint here, and the only time something like that happens to me is if I inadvertently click the scroll wheel.

I'm running a G5 and win7 64bit with setpoint 4.80 and haven't had any problems. Make sure you loaded the correct drivers i.e. 32bit or 64bit Also note, all scroll mouses will scroll pages differently if you actually click the wheel instead of rolling it

Will re-download the drivers.. but I don't touch the mouse and it'll start scrolling down and up on it's own.. But yeah.. it's weird. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

Anyhow.. will check what's up and let you know!

I have a very similar problem, only my cursor always moves to the right, without any scrolling (I just posted about it). I tried everything I could think of and nothing works, but perhaps your problem has a different source from mine, so something might work. Here are the things I tried, based on reading other forums and speaking to friends:

- turned off "enhance mouse movement" under control panel (suggested on a few forums online)
- turned off laptop trackpad, in case it is reacting to some movement
- switched between between 3 USB ports
- switched to another mouse
- switched mouse pads (dark, non-shiny surface)
- disconnected the mouse from USB port and used the laptop track pad instead
- turned the mouse upside down (such that the little red light was no longer activated, but the cursor still moved on it's own)
- turned off the option to write on screen (I have a tablet laptop)
- checked for new drivers, reinstalled drivers.

I think I may have found a solution. I tried updating the drivers before, but this did not work; I needed to completely uninstall them. Go to your Device Manager (select Properties after right-clicking on Computer), and uninstall your track pad by right clicking on it. Restart. Then go to the same folder and completely uninstall every single "human interface" device (including USP ports). Restart. Your computer should automatically find new drivers now. Hope it works!

What I did last night was uninstall the drivers, then I re-downloaded the Vista 32bit driver from Logitech's page, re-installed that, and thus far it hasn't happend again.

But I didn't use the PC too much last night, was playing Xbox for a bit then went to bed.

Will have another look tonight and let you guys know!!

Hi guys, some bad news..

I came home tonight, switched on.. same thing started happening again.. it's like the mouse picks up scrolling movement even when I don't touch the wheel.

I'm using a generic brand low-budget mouse that my housemate gave me, and it hasn't happened once thus far.

The G5 is plugged in on our Media PC (Running XP SP3) in the living room, and it hasn't happened once there either.

So I really think it's something to do with my mouse and Windows7?!?! :sarc:

I've got a Razer DeathAdder still sealed in it's box, that I need to go pick up from a friend, as he's had it for the last year or so, but I haven't needed it till now. So let's hope that one works fine!

Hopefully that mouse works, coz I really don't want to go back to XP SP3. But then again, I can't use my Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI card, nor my G5 nor share/stream data to my Xbox on Windows7, as Explorer crashes each time I try to enable streaming.

But I like the OS even with all it's flaws..

Still no idea what to suggest about your G5. Had a poke around on the Logitech forums to see if there is a solution?

Just to let you guys know MOUSE IS FAULTY, scrolling on our other machine as well.. so I'm taking it back as it's still got manufacturer's warranty left.

Anyhow.. will do some more research on the Xbox thing before I post a new thread tho.
