"Consider Changing Your Battery" Help

I get this message when I click my battery level.





When I click it, this is what it looks like.



When I untick the box it looks like



and what it should look like.



Is that a good enough fix? I've tried the disabling the ACPI thing in Device Managers but that is apparently only temporarily. I have tried set everything to 1% battery left and let it force shut down, plug it in to turn it on and it's still like that.

If that isn't a proper fix, what else is an option? I have a Toshiba laptop and it wasn't like this until today after my computer did some automatic updates overnight, it was plugged in

Hello. Some laptops are able to test the battery. Once the efficiency falls below a certain point, you willget a message saying to replace the battery, as in your case.

I'm on a limited budget and can't afford a new battery, unless it's under $20

What exactly happens when I disable "Microsoft ACPI-compliant Method Battery?" Does it disable the battery and run off the AC power cord? If so, would that mean I wouldn't be able to use my laptop unplugged?

You could use it for a limited time on battery, or indefinitely plugged in.

You can try conditioning the battery by completely discharging it by leaving the laptop on and then letting it charge for 12-15 hours, rinse and repeat 3-4 times. That may help.
Batteries do wear out after time and still may need a replacement.

So right before I go to bed, I let it run out of batteries and force shutdown, and I just let it charge overnight? If that's what you're saying, I'll give it a shot. I tried a method similar to this but not exactly like this.

Hmm interesting. Yesterday at 92% I would get ~40 minutes unplugged.

At 82% it said I have 1 hour 5 minutes left. 2 minutes later it's at 78% and says I have 48 minutes left, lol.

Battery life is relative to what tasks are running at the current charge state.

But, being that you are getting such a short charge life, I would say that your battery is in need of replacement. Start saving up.
