Came across this little demo of the cooling in laptops and now know what the "pipes" are for in coolers - I just thought they were - erm well pipes!!

Plus the site also has some other nice explanatory vids.:)

How do CPU coolers work? | News | TechRadar

Pipes were a brilliant idea, I remember back before they were in use, the change in cooling quality was noticeable when they hit the market.
You even see copper being used in some laptops now, which is good as laptops have a much harder time dissipating their heat because of the tight spaces inside.

    lol That was bad SZ

    Yeah, cooling pipes...
I had a very basic understanding of these until recently when I decided to start Over Clocking and needed a cooler, beyond what Intel provided. Amazing how impressive simple technology can be....

The air cooling is good enough for me, don't want to risk a leak in the system for water cooling. Can't wait until a cold plate processor cooler is made. That, I will buy.

The reason I didn't go with liquid is because so far as my studies on the subject could determine you only have about a 20% chance of the cooling system lasting 2 years.
And when they go, they have a habit of taking other hardware with them. When a fan stops working you notice the pitch change...
