    Mouse problems

My mouse is driving me insane.
WhenI got my computer I got a Logitech wireless wave keyboard and wireless mouse combo. I really liked that mouse and I enjoy using the keyboard. About a year ago the mouse suddenly stopped working and nothing that I tried got it working, I resigned myself to the fact that Id have to use another mouse, on the plus side my keyboard is still working. At the time the mouse stopped working I was using Windows Vista and I have since upgraded to Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit. The keyboard is functioning properly and the mouse is still not working. I was using a usb mouse and it seamed to be operating okay, suddenly the mouse click speed increased so I figured it was because the mouse was a cheap one (it was really a cheap buy) so I changed mouse, Im currently using a usb DELL mouse - a friend gave it to me and I am sure its ok, it was hardly used (if at all) when I got it. Things seem to be okay with the mouse if I use it for a short while (the double click speed is still fast and I often close programs by accident when I didnt intend to (like closing an email in Microsoft office and because of the double click speed the red close cross of the Microsoft Outlook main window is clicked and the program closes - VERY IRRITATING.) This happens with all programs as far as I can see, I realise some mouse problems may be present in certain programs but this seems to be in the "windows" program itself.
Logitech comes with a program "setpoint" for controlling the keyboard and the mouse. I have tried uninstalling that and re-installing it - no help.
I have deleted the mouse drivers (from device manager and when I restart the computer the drivers are reloaded and the problem is still there. There seem to be three "mice" loaded on my computer - although I have only ever used one.
The reason why I say the problem with double click speed escalates over a period of time is because I have noticed that sometimes the double click speed is so fast that I have to click and re-click and re-click, etc. just to put a tick in a checkbox.
If I click on the favourites menu in Internet explorer the menu flashes on the screen and then dissapears so fast that I need to time a click to display the menu for use.
This "fast speed" of mouse clicking makes playing games involving pointing with the mouse and clicking impossible.
Im considering reloading Windows 7 on my computer to get rid of this problem, please tell me there is a simple way I can fix this.
Extra info - the mouse setting of double click speed in control panel has no effect.
I have just been to divice manager and I have entries for Human Interface Devices, I see I have Logitech USB mouse there, I disabled it and the DELL usb muose stopped working. In Device manager I also have mice and other pointing devices, under this I have to entries, Logitech HID compliant cordless mouse and Logitec HID compliant optical optical wheel mouse. Disabling the cordless mouse driver has no effect but disabling the optical wheel mouse driver stops my DELL mouse working. Setpoint picks up that Im using a mouse but it seems to recognise that it is a usb mouse.

I sounds to me that the Logitech set point is trying to control your Dell mouse. On my system, set point is a mouse driver, if you are no longer using the mouse it is not needed. I would go to logitech's web site and download just the drivers for your keyboard. Then uninstall the logitech software and all mouse entries. restart the computer, it should install generic mouse drivers, then install just the keyboard drivers. See if that works for you. If you have to, you can restart the computer with the keyboard by pushing the windows key and then using the right/left up/down arrows.

    I tried
I uninstalled setpoint, unistalled all the mouse drivers in device manager and shut the computer down. I let it startup and install the "generic" mouse driver - all seemed ok at that point, I ve got a PS2 keyboard. The I installed a new version of setpoint (6.32) and the same story with my mouse seams to be happening. What do I do?

What model keyboard do you have and did you buy a combo mouse and keyboard? I have a G510 keyboard and a G500 mouse. The drivers for mine are seperate. The SetPoint drivers are for the mouse And there are other drivers/software for the keyboard. If you bought a combo mouse/keyboard, the combo drivers will include the mouse drivers, which I think are causing your problems. See if you can find your keyboard by itself and see what the software for it alone is. Also, if you need to, Logitech has very good tech support and may be able to help you better than me. The mouse and keyboard should work as a normal keyboard without drivers.

It is a keyboard/mouse combo. Both wireless.
    Keyboard model Y-RCP140.
I cant find a model number on the mouse.
When I re-installed setpoint it seems to control my DELL mouse as if it is a Logitech mouse. reason why I say this is because I had a look at Device manager and there seems to be the 3 logitech mouse loaded (spoken previously about). One question - if I do get the drivers for my keyboard how do I use the multimedia buttons on my keyboard?
Here is a link to a similar keyboard - the modle number differs Logitech UK - Wireless Keyboard K350

Just a suggestion. Uninstall everything including the logitech mouse in device manager, go to logitech's web site and let it scan for your logitech product, then download the software it gives you for the keyboard. Again, just a suggestion. Failing that, try the logitech support or their forums. It is obviously a driver issue that is taking over control of your mouse.

I just installed Setpoint and it seems that the problem is with windows itself. Reason why I say this is because I first uninstalled setpoint so my keyboard doesnt work, plugged in my wired (not logitech keyboard and had to restart). Once the computer had restarted I had a look in device manager and all references to logitech were gone. I have a USB receiver for the keyboard/mouse combo and I tried plugging it in and out and looking in device manager it didnt seem to load any extra mice or keyboards when plugged in. However I did notice that an extra HID compliant device appeared under the mouse part of device manager, I uninstalled it and my dell mouse still works. Then I went to the logitech site and went to the detect thing, my USB reciever had to be plugged in and it picked up my keyboard and also my mouse (this doesnt even have batteries in so cannot, I assume, send a signal) - it seems that my keyboard and my logitech mouse are grouped together, ie. the setpoint program will 'drive' the keyboard aswell as the mouse regardless of wether the mouse is there or not. I tried using the mouse to open and close windows and it is still up to its same tricks even with setpoint uninstalled. How do I fix mouse driver and controllers in windows 7? Perhaps there is some stuff in the registry thats affecting my mouse.
