    Drive letter not showing up as available

    hi all,

    I just installed windows 7 rc. I have two hard drives in my system. The first has two partitions, the boot partition and a logical drive. The second hard drive has a single partition on it. windows assigned the 2nd hard drive the letter "d". I have a lot of data on there that a certain program I am using will be trying to locate on the "h" drive. I tried going to the disk management utility to change the assignment from "d" to "h", but in the list of available letters, h is not listed. (on the list of drives, nothing is shown as having the letter "h"). Why is h not available? (actually, I looked through the list and g,h,i,j and p are all missing). where did they go? is there some way I can get h back?

    thanks,
    mktaj

    i had this problem, no worry :)
    run regedit.exe
    there you go HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SYSTEM->MountedDevices
    find lines like
    DosDevices\J:
    DosDevices\D:
    ...
    etc and change D to H

    that's all
