If your video card requires it's own power plug, do you have that connected?

Sorry Kevin I'm not sure what you mean by UPS?

To Deacon I do have it connected to all the right places. My power supply is HUGE and has it's own cable for the graphics card or so I'm told. My friend is a certified technician he does this sort of thing as a living so I'm confidant it's all connected properly. He just didn't bring any spare parts with him thinking the new GPU would solve the problem.

Thanks everyone for your help with all my threads.

UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). An electric device stands between your machine and power source to provide your machine a constant and stable power, free from any surge. As it has battery then you still have your machine runs when having switches tripped, until you switch it back alive. Or, if it is black out, you will have enough time to save your work and shutdown in a proper way.

Grace, I remember you saying that you had a large amount of dust in your system. Remove the GPU from the slot and give the slot a good blast with the canned air.

Also, are you able to get a post screen or the BIOS screen at all? Or do you have nothing at all when the pc loads? Also, do you have another PSU to test? It may be that your PCIe leads on the PSU are bad, this could have led to the demise of your old card.

Further thinking here, you have a clear CMOS button on the back of your MoBo under your Keyboard and mouse jacks. Power down the pc and press and hold the clear cmos button for 5 seconds. Reboot and see what happens.

To Kevin, I don't have a UPS I've never heard of this before I will have to get one at some point. I have all my tech plugged into surge protection plugs though. The machine didn't cut out I had rebooted after using the computer not from cold start and then got "No Signal"

To James, I'm not getting to the bios screen. All the hard drives, optical drives and fans are all working. I had already cleared the bios using the CMOS button following the instruction manual before and after I installed the new card, thinking I may have messed up the bios. I've also had the battery removed and replaced and the inside of case cleaned with compressed air.

The CPU was removed and when I touched it 30 minutes later it was still hot. I had only had it on for a few minutes each boot to test the card that's not normal is it? The inside of my case is really quite cool so I can only think it's a mech fault. *sigh* Thanks guys I owe you all hugs, I'll be sure to update this thread should anything fix the issue.

Thanks again everyone.

I apologise James for not getting back to your PM. I was going to bed for a bit as I'm quite tired but thought I'd give you a quick reply. I have double checked all 3 sticks are seated in the blue slots. When my RAM isn't seated properly it beeps like mad and I haven't had any beeps.

I will have my boyfriend do as you suggested in your PM and update the thread if anything works. I really appreciate all you've done that goes for everyone else to. The retailer are not going to replace the CPU they've told me to get in touch with Intel as they have a 3 year warranty on that model of CPU.

I can't find an email address or telephone number for the UK but I'm tired and will check again later.

See you all later.

Okay, well, when you get a chance try them in the white slots. Get some rest.

Brand X vs Brand Y RAM
