A strange conflict between USB input device and digital receiver

I am facing some kind of strange problem which had been happening for months and it took me this long to identify the problem but the solution is still unknown. Of note, other than this problem rest all attachments works fine. Please help me on this.

I do use a online USB foot pedal that is used for transcription. I have two plugs powering the system, one for the monitor and the other to the CPU, connected to a extension cord with 5 sockets. To the rest of the sockets I had my DTH (digital tv receiver) and a small tv connected. With this setup, when I am working with my footpedal, it works for 1/2 an hour with proper play, rewind, and forward controls. After 1/2 an hour, it starts acting weird and begins to control itself in that it plays stops rewinds continuously by itself making it difficult for me. At first I thought it is driver issue and reinstalled and installed and tried all methods. I do get lot of errors at such times if I change the USB port for the pedal during the times of this issue. However, the moment I switch the DTH off from the power source. It all seemed to be working fine again without any issue.

Considering that, I thought it may be due to some voltage problem with distribution of power and I connected the DTH set seperately out to an entirely different AC wall socket but same room. Again, for the first half an hour the pedal controls works fine, and then the same thing happens and the moment I switch the DTH receiver off, its all back to normal.

It was really hard for me to get to this point to know what actually is interfering with the USB foot pedal function. Without my knowledge, sometimes earlier I found it working and sometimes not. Was surprised to know this happening. I do not know the solution for it. If someone could help or add their inputs it would be great. Thanks in advance.

man i have no idea what kinda parts/setup you're talking about, because i know nothing about transcripting. but it sounds like it might be the actual mechanics of your pedal, have you tried to examine under them, wherever the switches are to cause the video to rewind(I'm assuming that's what your pedal does?idk) maybe something's getting jammed/stuck. Seen weird things with laptops, screens not coming on because the clips/sensors were blocked or staying shut, thus making the screen stay off when the laptop was opened. again, not a clue what the setup looks like.

Only other hting I could think of would be interference through the cables themselves, like something's unshielded and somehow causing interference, seen it happen all the time with car systems (Yea i know that's car systems, but figured electricity is electricty.) Audio wires ran by power wires, causes audio feedback. Not sure if it'd be the same thing as like signal interference.. Make sure your usb wire isn't near your power wires? idk. and good luck.

Thanks for your response. Nothing complicated with the equipments as you think. Just a basic desktop (CPU + Keyboard + CRT Monitor + Mouse + External hard drive). The pedal that I am talking about is something like the gameport that people use for playing games, just that this is placed on floor controlled by feet.

The problem source I indicated was the DTH receiver that is meant for receiving digital TV channels. The moment that is on, the pedal starts behaving weirdly in a way like plays pauses and does the controls itself like mad.

Interference is something that I thought of and made sure of the wires not to touch each other and placed the box too far and in a different power socket on wall. Still such a thing does seem to happen.

UPDATE:
I presently do have a studio 1735 laptop also with me running windows 7 similar to my desktop pc. The touchpad at certain times used to act weird and not respond to touch and suddenly move at times and start clicking items at its own wish at regular intervals. I thought it to be a driver issue and installed latest drivers and so on, but again, the problem persisted intermittently, on and off. Finally, again, it turns out that when the DTH receiver is on in the other room for watching tv, then this seemed to happen. I checked to see again that the touchpad mouse is detected in the windows 7 device manager as "PS/2 Compatible mouse" "HID-compliant mouse". Exactly the same kinda situation as previously described with my USB foot pedal. Considering that the DTH appliance is not related to comp/laptop, I presume two possible reasons. One could be any signal/field interference and the other any electrical/voltage problems caused by it which might be impacting on these two. Signal/field interference gets ruled out as the appliances are far apart from each other of at least 20-25 feet distance. I am not able to think of any reason and come to a solution for this strange conflict.

That being the situation, any inputs or suggestions to try will be very helpful. (Other than asking me to use one appliance at a time)

NOTE: By saying DTH receiver I mean satellite receiver for television channels.
