WD "My Passport" External Drive (with photos!) not showing in Computer

Hi peeps!
Im not that great with computers so please bear with me!!
I have a WD My Passport External Drive, which was working fine til a few weeks ago. It stopped showing up in Computer.
When I check out Disk Management, the WD drive shows as...

Disk1
Unknown
Not Initialized (!!!!)

When I right click on it, my options are Offline, Properties, and Help.
Selecting any of these (except properties) gives a message, "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

I hope this drive isnt corrupt, as its new and I have just transfer all my kids/family photos onto it!!! =( Silly me!

Any help would be really appreciated....soon I will take it into a computer store to see if they can save it.
