Just saying because you choose to completely ignore the post karlsnooks post and never answer the question of what kind of controller it is like if its a say how you said your other controller is a ps3 controller. Then what is the other controller you are trying to use specifically called. Model and brand would be most helpful information you could supply. Are you trying to get the ps3 controller to work or the unknown controller which you have yet specified of what model and brand to work? Just a bit lost at were your trying to get at.

Anyways if it's a xbox controller then try downloading the drivers specified from Microsoft, for the ps3 controller you would need some kind of configuration padder since ps3 controllers are technically not supported on the pc and need work arounds and for a pc controller of some third party brand, find out what model it is and tell us so we can see if there is some specific drivers for it.

You could try using a program called xpadder which lets you assign keyboard keys for your controller.

Try doing it with the other controller or try the xbox controller you mentioned earlier doing this assuming you got the wireless adapter for your laptop and such for that wireless xbox controller.
