You bought from a local Fry's, does that mean you won't buy online?
Have you checked what Fry's has on sale now?

You want ~640 GB capacity, so even if you get an SSD, you will also need an HD spinner to get that capacity...
How much are you willing to spend?

You could get a 120GB SSD and a 500GB HD...but cost (your budget) is still a question.

In a way you're playing Russian roulette with your current HD, but at least you do have your data backed up.

No it does not mean I won't buy online. At the moment I'm going to get the regular hdd first, and then later I'll be getting the SSD. Just throw some decent ones out there that aren't too pricey. I've been looking on Newegg, Tigerdirect, and so forth at the moment. I saw the Intellipower hard drives but I also heard those were only 5400RPM. And at the moment I still have my laptop.

I used to use Seagate drives a very long time ago but will not now.

I have been using WD drives for about 10 years and have never had a failure. I have had a few failures with Seagate though in the past.

But if you are getting errors now, don't wait to move your data.
Most people know about backing up but few do it until After a failure. It has happened to me.
It only takes once.

I have already stated that I have everything backed up already on an external.

I usually keep at least two different backups as I have had my backups fail when trying to re-image a drive. That is why I use Acronis to do a periodic validation of the backups now as a routine.

I don't image my drive. The only things I have to save are my pictures, music, and movies. Which are on my external for a reason so I can use them on my Ps3 anyways.

You still haven't said what your budget was? I like WD spinners myself. You can get one at TigerDirect.com - Electronics, Tablets, Phones, Office Supplies & Video Games
a 500GB about $75, or for other $15 bucks a 1TB. Both are 7200rpm.

I'm trying to attempt to at least keep it under 80.
