Point of getting an SSD?

OCZ is fine. I have 3 of them and never had any problems. But there were a couple of models that were defunct. You have to read the reader comments on the Newegg site.

For reliability, Intels are probably the best. I have two 3 year old Intels and they are still going strong. But they are also the most expensive.

Although I own a Crucial M4, I would probably not buy it again. There were some negative reports too.

The last one I bought (from Newegg) is a 60GB Mushkin Chronos for less than $70. It is still sitting on my desk, so I cannot say how it might perform. The 120GB model costs $103. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226236

That is probably about the best price going right now. A few days ago, NewEgg was running a Samsung 1TB for $79, but they currently $109 for the drive.

Yes, overall they are good drives. I would have some concerns with reliability. My preference is Intel or Corsair.

Maybe, it all depends upon how much data you have to store. Only you will be able to tell.

Well, if you plan on having the same or similar storage needs, and you currently don't fill 640GB, you should be just fine with 1,120GB (assuming you have the 120GB SSD).
