    HDMI Cable length

Not sure if this is in the right place, but I'm looking to connect my TV to my PC upstairs with a 15m HDMI cable. Do you think this will be ok as I've read for certain lengths you need to use a repeater?

    Cheers

    Hiya pal

15m is the max you can use without a repeater, but in certain circumstances it's still pushing it a bit

    Cheers for the swift reply.

What problems occur on that length? is it just video quality?

You could end up getting no picture or audio, but I have set up a 15m in a pub which worked just fine with no loss of audio or picture quality.

I'll buy an ebay job and test it. If it didn;t work on a 15m could I stick a repeater on to the end of that with another 1m hdmi cable or would it need to be a 10 and a 5?

I suggest upping the quality quotient considerably and you may still need an amp.

Try and have as few joins as possible. Try out a 15m on its own if you get no joy then go with a 10m-repeater-10m

The longer the run, the larger the AWG needed. The shorter the run, the smaller the AWG needed. If you keep that in mind you should be just fine.
