I would look for one that would run your system for about 10 minutes to give you time to close out any files that you have open and gracefully shut down in case of a power outage. Just don't put your laserjet printer on the same line. Your monitor and computer should be all that is necessary.
APC Smart-UPS 1500VA LCD 120V should be more than sufficient. Many are cheaper but you gets what you pay for. Some of the cheaper ones are nothing but a surge supressor.

I run an apc backups rs-1200. It easily runs my pc, htpc, Xbox 360, 3 monitors and my speakers at the same time.
I recommend an apc unit over other brands, the have very good customer service.

This unit here should be more than enough. It won't run your computer for hours, but long enough to get everything saved and shut down.
